So this new life drawing pose became Theo Torcher, a character from a 24 years old college homework because Iām embarrassed to show old work without a new interpretation to go with it. Hard version = HERE on Patreon!
The Breakup (1999) – Art school assignment, basically had to create a storyboard with no text. Discovered early on at Pratt that I was the only one out of hundreds of students using a comic style. And then realized this was going to be one of my only chances to show sequential art. So I was almost obligated to go full crazy comics mode and create Mister Theo Torcher and Miss Alicia Talonetti.
Oh man, I fuckin’ LOVE how these old pieces tell a story without ever using a single word. You’ve always been so gifted at creating comics. Takes me back to the days when I first fell in love with your work and you published an actual, honest-to-god 3D comic with 3D glasses included. This has me feeling all kinds of nostalgic. Thanks man! The new piece definitely shows off how much your knowledge of anatomy and your skill as an artist has grown too. You’re a force of nature. š
Thanks so much buddy! That reminds me- I’ve ben meaning to make the Anti-Heroes comics available online for ages. Everytime I re-discover one of my old pre-erotica works, I can’t resist the urge to reinterpret it with my new skills. My critiques back in the day always said I had good concepts and color- but to work on anatomy. Now I feel like anatomy is one of my greatest strengths so thanks for noticing.
