It’s finally here! Your illustrator, JC Etheredge has finally hooked up with gay publishing giant Bruno Gmunder to release Tongue in Cheek, an 80-page, hardcover collection spanning ten years of gay erotic drawings by moi!

Bruno Gmunder curates this selection, which is mostly work I’ve been commissioned to draw but also has a spattering of my own personal creations. Here’s what they say about it:

“JC Etheredge’s drawings are sexy, funny, charming, and outright provocative! This book is filled to the brim with absurd situations, hilarious anecdotes, and romantic dreams.”

… Um yea, and also huge cartoon penises! lol

Figure Drawing: A New Duo!

By | All-American, figure drawing, muscles, Original Art, wet, xxx | 2 Comments
For this week’s figure drawing session, there was another pair of guys. One was James, whom I’ve drawn before, and the other was a new guy, also named James. When drawing two guys, though, it’s difficult to get a good facial likeness along with both whole figures. So, for this session, I drew the bodies and left the faces blank, to complete at a later time.

So then, after having the drawings for a little while, I ran through the list of likely muscley couples to turn these into. All-American and Golden Boy didn’t enter my mind for a while because it’s been so long since I’ve drawn them. But once I started the process, it seemed so perfect and natural that these drawings become this sexy duo!

3 of 6 up here. The rest you’ll find in the Figure Drawing gallery on Anti-Heroes.net.

I’ve always had a thing for superheroes in vulnerable moments. Ripped costumes, visible wounds, a solemn expression– it all really does it for me! Maybe it’s because it makes them seem a tad more human– brings them down to our level. Whatever the reason, I’ve had this image stuck in my head for months and just had to get it down on paper!

This was for the guy who got all those commissioned pieces of his character All-American and all his sexy cohorts. It’s a genuine fan-art piece on my part as it was totally unsolicited.

It’s purposely ambiguous as to what exactly happened to these boys to bring them to this point. It could have been a really bad-ass supervillain– or a conglomeration of a bunch of supervillains!… or a natural disaster– or a manmade disaster!… or some fantastic Godzilla / Cthulhu-type creature!! Maybe they lost… or maybe they won but had to sacrifice something very dear to them! Who knows?! All I really wanted going in was to capture an emotion. I wanted to rough them up a little and make it feel like some unnecessary violence just transpired.

As for the rough and gritty coloring job, I wanted it to reflect the mood of the moment. And originally, I envisioned sunset lighting but the end result just wound up looking a bit like a nuclear bomb went off in the sky… which I guess could work too, storywise. heh. Comments appreciated!

Redcoat Returns!

It’s that time again! Here we have the third installment in the Adventures of All-American and Golden Boy series!

The boys’ Winter Formal Dance is abruptly interrupted when they discover their arch villain Redcoat has returned and kidnapped one of their buddies! The setting is the grounds of the guys’ posh New England prep school.

This BG was fun to concoct and really sets the mood for the piece. Redcoat, as my client dictates, is an old enemy, possibly from way back in the Revolutionary War where he battled the heroic Ghost Soldier. Now he has mysteriously reappeared with a vengeance! He’s All-American’s version of the Joker or Lex Luthor– a real evil sunnuva. He was pretty fun to draw as well, and successfully convinced me that I can make a guy in a powdered wig hot. heehee.

And then we have the cute lil’ teenaged hostage. My client liked my design for him so much that he made him into a super-hero as well! Meet The Rebel, the latest sidekick for the patriotic super-duo. He’s loyal, eager, and ready to serve! Think of the “Batgirl dynamic” with a dash of Jimmy Olsen thrown in.

More on these guys to come…

The Origin

Welcome to part two of my blog installments of my buddy’s sexy patriotic super-duo, All-American and Golden Boy. Previously, we got to see the boys’ secret prep school identities and how they’d fare against zombie bellhops. Now we are exploring how they became super-heroes in the first place with this three-part series of illustrations.

In the first one, as skinny teens, Todd and Cameron discover an old chest in a dusty attic from which a ghastly specter appears. The ghost is a soldier from the American Revolutionary War and also a super-hero in his own right.

He then sexily “bestows” the boys with their super-powers while their new muscles burst free of the confines of their attire. (My personal favorite step in this process… ^___^)

Finally, the proud ghost soldier looks on as the boys nobly accept their new identities as super-heroes.

This series was particularly fun as I got to explore new techniqes with the ghost and his power effects. Also, even though the background was a pain, it was pretty satisfying to get it done. So expect more from me about this duo because I’ve totally fallen in love with them and their story.

Also, let my client know what a cool premise this is for a comic book! You’d buy it right?

All-American

Here’s what I’ve been working on while you all were enjoying my psychotic J-POP lovers. It’s a series of commissioned pieces involving characters of the client’s creation.

Mild-mannered prep school boys by day… HOT BULGING SUPER-HEROES by night! Meet “All-American” and his sidekick “Golden Boy!” These illustrations were particularly fun because of the elaborate storyline the client’s come up with. And yeah… prep school boys are effing HAWT! I went to a prep school but we didn’t get to wear uniforms. I remember being disappointed about that. The kids at my school all dressed like shyt. But I digress.

I am particularly proud of the third piece here. I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this before but I have an extreme fear of zombies. I don’t know why. They just freak me out. Thriller gives me nightmares. I can’t play Resident Evil past the first stage. And Dawn of the Dead is probably one of the most disturbing things I’ve ever seen.

So, you’ll see why I was a little worried about drawing zombies for the commission. What saved me was that they’re supposed to be hot. So I figured, perfect– I don’t have to draw eyes hanging out of their sockets or exposed brain or anything. haha.
