The Pretty COLORS!
Humbuged had some pics that he’d drawn on his Nintendo DS. Being the annoying guppie that I am, I always have the latest tekkie gizmos. Before I got my iPhone, I had a really amazing pocket PC smart-phone that was super customizable. At the time, I was friggin’ obsessed with finding a good digital painting program for it. But alas, none of them really worked.
I dunno why I was/am so preoccupied with a portable digital painter. So needless to say, when I discovered that I could get one for my trusty lil’ DS, I jumped all over that!
The application is called Colors! and it is a homebrew game created by Jens Andersson. It keeps things incredibly simple for ease of use. And the resulting works can look really amazing. I was never a real lover of any traditional media other than a pens and pencils, but this program makes it look like I can watercolor with the beat of ‘em! Haha
My favorite feature of the game is that it records every single brushstroke so you can view an animation of the progress of your drawing! I’m so enamoured with this game, it’s not even funny. The only real problem is since I only really play with it in public (on the subway) I can’t really draw anything all that raunchy. When you have a DS or PSP or whatever, it’s a given that folks are gonna look over your shoulder. I don’t know if I could take the guilt of exposing some impressionable young tyke to a giant cartoon cock.
Oh look, an big ugly block of text! I've been drawing all my life. I can't remember when I started but it was early. I've always been intrigued and inspired by animation and comics. My earliest influences were Charles Shultz's Peanuts and later, X-Men comic books. It didn't take very long for me to start drawing erotic images. Even before junior high, I was drawing nude Disney men in my sketchbooks.

Wow, JC! I have to say this is one of the coolest posts you’ve ever made. What an incredible treat! I loved watching your work develop from beginning to end, to see the work that goes into your pieces, from adding light and shadow to tweaking the slightest of details. I love watching the facial features spring to life as you add depth and dimension to them. So cool! =) I have to admit though, for a moment there it looked like you were drawing an incredibly hunky smurf. (Which just feels like a huge oxymoron.) LOVE it, JC! =) Thanks for sharing!

Dreamerboy! Always a pleasure! Yeah, I am so fascinated with the playback feature it’s not even funny. I wish Photoshop did something like that. And yah, that’s definitely Vanity, my favorite Smurf. He’s been working out. =)
Hey Humbuged. When you connect your computer to the SD card, the .drw file is the animation. Then get the Java thing called ColorsDraw here: http://colors.brombra.net/downloads.php
It’ll export a huge AVI but I compressed it with VLC player to mp4 format.
And thanks again for turning me on to that game, by the way! It’s so fun!

This is a very cool posting, JC. I love the Storm and the UBER SEXY Vanity Smurf. They’re all beautiful really, but those 2 are my personal faves.
As a kid I used to draw the Smurfs all the time, and as an adult, I’ve always wondered how they might look all sexied up. Thank you for making that come to life for me!

Oh yes– I LOVES my Smurfs! It was such an awesome show. Ive been rewatching them recently and Vanity just has the best lines ever.
Unfortunately… they are preparing for a trilogy of CG animated Smurf feature length films to commemorate their 50th anniversary. Who’s excited about this? Not me, that’s for sure.
