End of the Year Musings

So just a few things to announce / rant about for the end of the year. Firstly, I’ve got some new figure drawing up for youze guys!

Here’s Gonzalo, a real he-man with amazingly bulgy muscular meaty thighs and thick luscious sable locks.


The following week was Brandon who was… very very fuzzy. I had some difficulty with this model’s face which is why you’ll notice I didn’t often draw his head. He had very big features and although he was pretty cute, I had trouble rendering a realistic likeness. So, I just made him a cartoon. In truth, I think it suits him better than any attempt at a realistic likeness.


I’m finding more and more by watching some of the other artists in the group that I have a unique way of blending stylization with realism. Most of the other artists there either work completey realistic or totally stylized. Anyhoo, let me know what yalls think. Tons more are up on my site here.


The next thing I want to mention is that my previous excitement over the graphics for Street Fighter 4 is now gone. 1up.com has footage of some in-game play and I have to say… it just looks very very polygonal to me. I mean… it kinda doesn’t look any more advanced than say Rival Schools or Street Fighter EX.

Call me a purist but think I’ve rejoined the “Street Fighter works best in 2D” camp. I mean… imagine a high-res, super-high frame rate Street Fighter with traditionally hand-drawn animation in the quality of something like Samurai Champloo. Now THAT would be groundbreaking. But when asked in the latest issue of EGM (Electronic Gaming Monthly) why didn’t Capcom just make SF4 entirely 2D, Yoshinori Ono, the game’s lead producer said they’ve “done all they can with 2D” and that they “wouldn’t learn anything new.” Pssh, yeah, way to dodge that question, buddy.

Finally, I’d like to babble on about one more thing. My BIRTHDAY is very close to New Years and all my life, it’s been overshadowed by New Years and to some extent, even Christmas. However, I’m excited about THIS new year because it’s 2008 and 8‘s are my lucky numbers. I was born on 01-08-80 and this year, my 28th BIRTHDAY falls on 01-08-08! So my BIRTHDAY is kindof an anagram of my birthdate! Heh heh!

Oh, and by the way… fan-art makes a great BIRTHDAY present…. ahem… (cough cough!)

Figure Drawing: Roger

So last Wednesday, I attended the Leslie Lohman Foundation‘s Queer Men’s Erotic Art Workshop for the first time and let me tell ya, it was definitely worth it! It was nothing like I expected and exactly like I secretly wanted! Haha.

Back at Pratt, I had a LOT of figure drawing. With my major being Illustration, my advisors assured me that I should get as much figure drawing as possible. So about 4 times a week for 4 years I was sentenced to render the very repetitive brigade of weirdo models Pratt hired. Let’s see… there was Morbidly Obese Eviva, Johnny One-Nut, Coked-Up Keiko, Fat-Pussied Rose, Shaved Santa, Tampon String, Out of Work G.I.Joe, Senile Old Lady, and Beatles Haircut Guy With the Shit Stained Underwear… among others. Needless to say, I’d had my fill of figure drawing by the time I graduated and was content to let my imagination do the work from there on out.

So, imagine my delight at LLF when I saw hunky, hairy Roger! He was polite and outgoing and had the sexiest German accent. (He was Swiss.)


Despite much of the workshop feeling like school, I had a great time because I got to draw this gorgeous hottie. Although I really don’t know how I (or anyone there for that matter) was able to produce anything. It was wholly difficult to focus on drawing with such a sexy subject. But like the immortal Tom of Finland said “If I have an erection while doing a drawing, then I know it’s good.” Truer words were never spoken. Haha.

I’m glad to get back into figure. I think it gives my body or work this whole new facet you guys haven’t really ever seen. I feel like because it’s from life, it’s so much more real. Granted, I do take a lot of photo reference for my other stuff– but it really isn’t comparable to what I get from life drawing. BEEDOO-JOOOS!!

Happy Halloween, my fellow gay art lovers! I thought I’d whip up a little image as I’d done last year just to keep up the tradition.

I actually really like Halloween, but my partner and I have sort-of been non-participants these past few years. Ever since we’ve been together, we’ve had one disastrous Halloween after another, so we finally decided that we’re just not going to do anything anymore.

Consider that perhaps one of our most memorable Halloween experiences was one year when we went to the parade. We stood next to this extremely loud, slightly mentally challenged woman who screamed and shouted the whole time. “SEXY!!! WOOHOO!! SEEEXY!!!” She’d call for people to come over to her and most were smart enough not to. The best was “YO, BEETLE-JUICE!! BEETLE-JUICE!!! COME HERE!! BEEEEDOOO-JOOOOS!!!” She would not let up. The guy she was yelling at was dressed like Edward Scissorhands.

That was like 4 years ago but to this day, whenever we see any reference to Edward Scissorhands, we look at each other and shout “YO, BEETLE-JUICE!”

Supreme Bukkake

Here we have a bit of a blast from the past as I’ve decided to whip something up featuring characters from my long defunct series, Supreme Dominion.


For those of you who don’t know, SD began as a senior thesis project for one of my illustration classes. My good friend and I thought it’d be fun to make up our own video game. It would be a fighting game in the tradition of Street Fighter or Rival Schools with a medieval fantasy twist.

I created 33 characters with elaborately intertwined stories and initially wanted him to design half of them. But after I saw a lot of his design ideas, I ended up redesigning most of the characters chosen for him (bit of a control freak here, what can I say?) His strength was in designing the elves, so I actually kept those characters true to his vision but gave them a bit of a wardrobe change.

We both got B’s on the project and apparently would have gotten A’s if we actually made the video game. Needless to say, our teacher didn’t quite know how difficult that would have been. haha! Joking aside though, after I graduated, I really did have massive plans for Supreme Dominion. But then, one project led to another and another and another until I finally kinda forgot about SD. I think this was because I was getting more and more into my homoerotic art and SD didn’t really have any gay characters.

But then I noticed that many of my gay art site visitors loved the concept of my medieval fantasy fighter. I was constantly being asked what I was going to do with the series. I’ve played around with ideas but nothing has really come to fruition just yet. The most I’ve done is “slashed” the male characters, making for some hot, sexy drawings.

So we’ll see what eventually happens to the cast of my beloved beat-em-up. Featured in the NEW piece at the top are Sir Vanderlorne the knight, Jaygar the barbarian, Paxton the merchant, Keth the half-ogre, and the dude getting “bukkaked” on is Ruschae the elf.

C’mon, Let’s Fight!

“C’mon, let’s FIGHT!” was what the main characters of this 1986 NES classic shouted before unloading their semi-automatic weapons into the jungles of their 8-bit universe. I’m speaking of Ikari Warriors, a rare game I never actually owned. A friend of mine had it but whenever we played, it would freeze on like the 4th stage. My friend was convinced that it was because he had roaches in his Nintendo and I told him that didn’t make any sense. Then, sure enough, one day we were playing and a cockroach crawled out of his Nintendo and the thing froze. I never played Josh’s Nintendo again after that.

ANYWAY, yeah, random tangent. The characters from this game would later be much more fleshed out in SNK‘s fighting game super-franchise King of Fighters. KOF, as it is called by fans, is the main rival to Capcom’s Street Fighter, and the Ikari Warriors: Ralf and Clark have been in all 10+ installments of the game. Clark is quiet, reserved, and never removes his shades. Ralf is loud, boisterous, and takes a swig of beer before each match. The two are military partners and inseparable friends (which of course leads fans to pair them up romantically!)

So yeah, enjoy my version of the Ikari team in all their dangling glory.

Omega Phi

What if the most powerful Greek and Roman deities were reincarnated as SEXY GAY FRAT BOYS?

Such is the premise of my latest perversion: The Men of Omega Phi.

I’ve always been fascinated by Greek mythology. If you think about it, its totally up my alley– a bunch of beautiful super-powered people who fight and screw each other.

Don’t ask me what I have planned for these guys. At the moment, there’s no comic series in the works. I mainly just wanted to design the characters and finally get it down on paper.

I’ve drawn these images as wallpapers, because I felt guilty about taking the old ones down from my site. These are all at widescreen monitor resolution (1680×1050.) For the fullscreen versions at 1024×768, visit the work section of my site.

Comments greatly welcomed and appreciated. Which one’s the hottest? Personally, I have to say that I have a thing for big boy Ryan– and also Emerson. But then again, I wouldn’t push ANY of them outta my bed– haha. Let me know what you guys think.

AH-OOH-ROWR!

Fan-Art! Fan-Art!

I drew this on a train, coming home from a short vacation. Originally it was going to be all elaborate with Blanka swinging through the trees complete with this insane detailed background. Then I was like, screw that– it’s fan-art. I’m not putting any more than the bare minimum of work into this.

In coloring the drawing with that same attitude, I tried a bit of a sketchy style. I was very free with the brushes, not caring too much about boundaries. It ended up developing into a pretty cool, very painterly coloring stlye. And although it didn’t take me any less time to finish, I think this coloring stlye fits the subject matter– wild, free, beastly! haha.

Blanka is a character from Street Fighter and although he isn’t my favorite Street Fighter, he is the one character I can consistently win with. Whenever I’m in the arcades and some punk keeps beating my Chun-Li or Rose, I pick up Blanka and KICK THEIR ASS!

You Da Man

I was saving this piece for when I launch Persuasions: Phase 02. But I am struggling with the script, and it probably will be a while before I get that up and running. So here’s a pre-maturely ejaculated piece for you guys.
The dude on the left is Dustin, the bartender who made a minor appearance in Persuasions: Phase 01. Milan is the guy on the right, whom you’ll remember as the young reluctant heir to the Van Bruno empire. So, I guess I’m revealing here that these two are lovers… but don’t worry because there are tons of more surprising twists and turns for their storyline.

In this illustration, you’ll be interested to know that trying to make a room appear “dirty” was far more difficult for me than I was expecting. I tweaked it for days. Hopefully, the idea came across. This is supposed to be one really skankatacious motel.

Lusty Pirates

*EDIT 5-25-07: I’m taking down 3 of the illustrations until the issues of [2] hits stands.

So here’s the latest thing I’ve been working on: a group of illustrations to accompany a story about pirates in [2] magazine.

Basically, it’s about a beautiful blonde male model who is getting shots taken on a fake pirate ship in the Bermuda Triangle. But then, of course, lightning strikes, and the model is mystically transported back in time to a real pirate ship.


Of the four drawings, my favorite is the one with the group of pirates all ogling the pretty boy tied to the mast. I had fun designing the characters. My partner said I made the Black one look a little too insane– LOL. It’s the eyes. I definitely wanted them all to look crazed.

I’m also proud of how the captain came out. I was worried I’d have trouble making him appear as gruff as a pirate captain would be while still trying to make him as attractive as the story describes. Hopefully, it worked. I’d join this guy’s crew before Jack Sparrow’s any day! (Not to put down Johnny Depp, who will always be high on my list of doable Hollywood!)

Miami Review

POST EDIT (4-27-07): I colored the “DEREK” character. Have a looksie.

So I’m back home. My partner and I jaunted down to sunny South Beach in Miami, Florida. It was very relaxing. The food was great and I saw enough fake titties to last me a lifetime.

For some reason, I was expecting the gay scene down there to be a lot more happening than it was. I had this idea that South Beach was one of the more infamous gay locales in the U.S. We ended up grabbing a few tourist guides before we went, and they further emphasized that South Beach has become more “straight” than it used to be. But it didn’t really hit me till we actually saw it.

It was still fun though– I mean, hell, I got to sleep on a beach every day! Of the few gay clubs that still existed, my favorite was Twist. No cover, eight bars, and hot gogo boys = a smashing good time. One thing that kind of disappointed me though was that the clubs and bars down in South Beach are very low-key any day but Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. You’d think that since Sunday is still a weekend day, that there would still be something going on in the clubs—but nope. I guess I’m spoiled living in New York where the clubs are in full effect every night of the week.

You’ll notice a few hot-guy drawings I put up along with this post, all inspired by my stay in South Beach. Oh yeah, that’s another thing that shocked me about that place—the lack of hot guys! Well, I’ll admit, the percentage of scantily-clad muscle boys did increase on the weekends. But during the week, the beach was pretty flabbalicious. My partner and I concluded that many of the locals must specifically come down to South Beach on the weekends only.

I’ll be coloring these pics eventually but for now I’ve got a ton of work to catch up with.
